Chaplain's last Sunday

Sunday I got up before 8. I took supplements. I rescued a piece of lettuce from the tower garden. I talked to Cecily and Al. I checked e-mail. I looked up supplements. I picked some onion tops. I saved some for Cecily, and cut up some for cheese squares. I used a tablespoon of the taco seasoning that I made up yesterday. I made cheese squares and put them in the oven. I steamed two batches of eggs and put them in an ice bath. I read more e-mail. I looked at the results from the latest bloodwork but they didn't make sense. I entered my volunteer hours into the VMIS system. I made and ate breakfast. Then I quickly got dressed and drove to the chaplain's house. Jamie pulled up just after I did. We parked across the street. Then we went and rang the doorbell. Ginger let us in. The chaplain hadn't left yet so we tried to be quiet. We looked through the bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, etc. Jamie looked at the yard. We quoted her $450. She gave me some papers related to the next book of the Bible that she was going to have for Bible Study. I gave her back the large print Bible that I had borrowed. Chaplain had left but had to come back and tell me that he backed into my car. It wasn't bad, though - a bit of a dent but no paint scraped off. We headed home. I finished eating my nuts and berries and got dressed for church. I played through Leavin' on a Jet Plane. Then I packed up the big trombone. Chris put it in my car and I headed to church. They came in Al's rented car. I put the cheese squares on the back table and went forward to place the music on the stand. I got my trombone assembled. Chris and Al and Cecily came in and sat down. The LDS missionaries came and they had gifts. It was a pretty good turnout for the chaplain's last Sunday. Jamie came in at the last minute. We sang three praise songs, which she really liked. The girl twirling the ribbon on a stick was very cute. Then the chaplain presented a coin to his assistant and indicated he'd already given one to the commander and to Chris. He gave his sermon and led us in Communion. Then we played our two hymns, plus Leavin on a Jet Plane. Afterward, the chaplain presented gifts to the assistant and his family. The Colonel spoke to the group and gave the chaplain a plaque. The LDS missionaries gave their gifts. Then the assistant read a letter from from some higher up and presented the chaplain with a saber. Then most people went to the fellowship hall for a potluck. Al and Cecily left. Chris stayed. I got in a long conversation with John the engineer. We went back to the fellowship hall and had a bite to eat. I talked to Eryne and Crystal about having a Paint Night. We also talked about having kids decorate ties for Father's Day, but I wasn't sure we had any ties left at the swap shop. Finally I drove home. I ate a grapefruit. I sat outside and read a book. I looked for hymns for next week. About all I got done was to organize them by key. Then Chris and Cecily put food on the table. We had leftovers for supper. We conversed for some time. Then we all chipped in to clear the table. Cecily loaded the dishwasher. I got the sprinkler started in the side yard. I worked on my blog. I moved the sprinkler head and went to the garden to water the potatoes. When I got home, I checked messages. I shut off the sprinkler. I again looked for hymns for Sunday and had to add to the list the ones we played recently. I drank my tea as I read some more. Then I got ready for bed.
