Christmas lights

Saturday

I got up around 8. I took supplements, exercised, practiced, and made egg salad. I read e-mail for awhile, then asked Chris for a massage. Afterward, he took his shower and I took mine. I ate fiber gel and read outside. I made and ate breakfast. I looked through the latest sales e-mails.

Casey came over to put up Christmas lights. He brought a ladder to hang them from the little peak of the porch roof. But there was no place to put the clips. Michelle came over to help. We ended up using binder clips to the horizontal facing piece then wrapping the lights around the pillars.

After they left, I found more lights in the garage. So I attached them to the end of the first lights and ran them around the side of the house, supported by shepherds hooks and tomato cages. When I plugged them in, it was obvious that they were a different white from the first set.

I went through all the carols in the hymnal, noting which ones had a melody that only used one octave. I made a list. I also found two that used less than an octave or at least less than 8 notes. I had one piece that I downloaded that had bells playing the melody. But playing the melody is harder than a simple baseline.

So I decided to also write them a part (not melody) to Silent Night. I wrote it in note names first, by chord, then tweaked to avoid awkward notes changes. THEN, even though it was in the same key as the first piece, it used the octave Bf to Bf, not F to F. So I rewrote it again and started putting it in staff form. Chris brought me a bowl of supper and I ate as I worked.

I had to quit to get ready for Project Night. Only Michele and John, plus Casey and Cedric came. I cut scrap paper into squares. I glued them into tubes and folded them in half. I used some to made snowflakes.

I was home by 9. I made tea and we watched one episode of Criminal Minds. I worked on my blog. Then we dressed the bed with clean sheets. I listened to a sleep track over and over while playing solitaire. Then I went to bed.
