This morning we started laundry, then hopped the subway to go to a park that is known for its cherry blossoms. First we exited the subway, then asked for directions. Following them, we walked through a palace courtyard and saw the inspection of the guard. Then we walked on for at least a mile. Eventually we did find the park, but it was at a higher elevation or something and there were no cherry blossoms. Chris said we could come back in two weeks, (after my leg muscles have recovered from all the walking.) Seoul is not flat! After a rest, and enjoying the bucolic scenery, we walked back, but not the way we came. We wanted to find a restaurant, not too expensive, not a dessert place, but with chairs. After a while we settled for a Japanese tea house. We ordered bowls of ramen, with tea (rose and chamomile). The teas were very good. Then we did a lot more walking to find a subway station. At one of the connecting points, we stopped to buy some Korean pretzels. Then we came home to do somemore laundry. We drove onto post and went to the PX to buy a camera and rechargeable batteries, and a webcam. The smallest camera had its own rechargeable battery, but the rep said it would last about 2 years. So I got the one that takes AA's. We also stopped by the library to get some books to read on the trip. Everywhere we went, on post and at the apartment complex, Chris felt compelled to point out the cherry blossoms that we went so far to find and could have seen here.
Back at home, we finished laundry and sat down together to watch a movie. Chris fixed cheddar brauts for supper. We still haven't heard from Michele on her retreat.
