Friendsgiving

Thursday

I got up around 7:30. I got ready for the day. I read messages for a bit. To prepare for Bible study I reached for a Bible on the shelf and my back seized. Thankfully I did not need to drop to the floor. I just stood still for a moment, then got in my car and went to Bible study.

Anka was waiting outside the chapel with her kids. I unlocked the door with Keli's help. We all went in. I got Keli's dresses from my car and walked in behind Ginger. We read from Matthew. When it was over, Keli tried on the dress that I removed a 2 inch band of fabric from and she was happy with it. Then she gave me a pair of pajama bottoms that her dog had eaten the crotch out of. Sigh.

I went home and rubbed some DMSO cream on it. Then I went to 602A for inspection. Jamie was upstairs doing some last minute cleaning. The inspectors came and looked around, then we signed the papers.

I went home. I walked to the post office to pick up the mail and to unlock the furniture room for someone who wanted to donate a couch. I picked up trash along the way. When I got home, I started looking for a sewing project for Saturday. Chris came home early and prepared the turkey and stuffing to go in the oven. Then I made and ate breakfast. He made and ate lunch, then went back to the office.

I watched The Highwire, already in progress. Then Jamie came over, riding the lawn mower. I took her home so she could come back with her truck and trailer. She raked leaves while I finished The Highwire and resumed looking for a sewing project. I wanted to find a good way of making scented pot holders or pot mats.

Eventually I could not resist working on Keli's pants. I found a piece of fabric that had bands of color in it. One of the bands was the same color as her pajamas. I cut a piece of paper into a crotch corner shape, then used it to cut out pieces to cover the four crotch corners that had been eaten. I basted them in where I thought they should go. But the final result was iffy.

By then, Chris was home and slicing up the turkey. He heated my casserole. Then we wrapped up the dishes of stuffing and took it all to the ACS center. People were already there. We carried our food in and set it on tables. The tables and chairs were already set up. We hung our coats on chairs, then I talked to several people. I gave Steve back his key. I sat with Michelle until the chaplain's assistant said the prayer. Then we got in line for food.

When she and I got back to the table, Chris was talking to some group of men. There was no point in eating alone, so I moved to sit with Michelle. Soon Jamie and her daughter sat down with us. Then Jenni sat on the other side of me. We had a lovely chat.

I had more food than I wanted because Michelle put her turkey on my plate since it had stuffing touching it. She is allergic. Jenni picked up all the plates and threw them out. I got up to talk to Anka, and then Saronna. Men started packing up the tables and chairs. Tiffany came and brought watermelon, so I had to get some of that. Karen had a large veggie tray and encouraged me to take some of that as well. Jamie wanted to make a plate for her husband but the turkeys were gone. Huh.

Finally I got Chris' attention and we headed home. He put the food away. I posted to the Facebook pages for Math Morning. Then I worked on my blog. I made tea.  My head was swimming and I didn't know why.  I was unable to get myself to practice or to concentrate on a sewing project for tomorrow.  Chris wasn't interested in watching TV so we both read at our laptops.  Finally he went to bed.  I stayed up later, but finally gave up trying to actually do anything.  Then I went to bed as well.
