Thursday
I got up at 8, so there wasn't much time to get ready for Bible Study at 8:30. I arrived on time, but no one else did. Jenni came this time and she needed to talk. So we all talked for awhile, then read from Luke, then talked some more.
After Bible study, I went home to change into cleaning clothes. I cleaned for over an hour at 211. Then I went home to make and eat breakfast. Saronna texted at one that she was meeting the principal at the band room. So I ran to the school band room. He was gone, but she and I looked through the music, hoping to find a set of patriotic music. We didn't, but we did get a set of beginning band books.
I ran home to change back into what I wore to Bible study. So I was a few minutes late to the dedication ceremony for the meeting room at ACS. It is now called the Keech room. A man named Keech spoke at length about his family working here. Then the colonel spoke and Brian spoke.
When the ceremony was over, we got to look at the artwork from the Dugway contest. Lots of kids entered, plus a few adults. I was one of them. The lady who won had done a very nice drawing of a soldier sitting on a bench with flag wings. But it didn't say “Dugway” to me. Not like the gopher skull encased in resin – which was supposed to be accompanied by a poster of a gopher, but it wasn't. So probably no one knew what it was. No name, no nothing. Just hanging from a tiny stand.
Chris and the colonel left immediately for the pool opening event. I stood around and talked to people and tried the cucumber finger sandwiches because the lady who made them wanted me to get some refreshments. Then I went home to change into a bathing suit and cover. I went to the pool and was greeted by the colonel. He said I missed him and Chris jumping into the pool fully dressed. I told him there wasn't enough time between events. (I heard the scheduling was his idea).
Anyway, I sat with Chris and Michele in the pavilion. Michele wanted to talk to the CSM's mother. So Chris went to introduce us. We made conversation about living in Seoul and Korean food. Then I saw Casey, so I got him to come over and talk. He lived in Korea for a few years as a missionary.
Isadora came because I texted. We had ice cones, then we got in the pool. However, she was soon off with her friends. I did a little swimming, but it was chilly and very chlorinated. So I didn't stay in long. I sat and talked to Michele and Chris. She went home because John wasn't coming. Soon Chris and I did as well.
I changed into dry clothes. I ate fiber gel, then sat outside and read. I had egg and cheese casserole for supper. I listened to more of The Highwire, hearing Jamie mowing the lawn. Then I paused it to work on my blog.
I filled a bottle with tea and put some cheese squares in a baggie for Michelle. I went to Casey's house at 8:30. I was expecting John but he didn't show up. I played Castle of Dr. Brain. I got through more puzzles than I expected and was working on a robot arm puzzle when the clock struck 11. I saved the game and turned it off. Casey showed me how to turn each component off. Then I said thanks and good night.
I went home. Chris was already asleep. I went through the usual bedtime routine and turned in.
