Wednesday
I stayed in bed late because I didn't sleep well in the room. Even though the AC was on and it was cold overnight, the room was hot. Or was it just me? Chris took a shower and went to the front office for breakfast. I took a shower, too. Then I got out two hardboiled eggs, surprised to find them frozen. But I ate them anyway. I also ate a grapefruit, which was also frozen. It was harder to peel than the eggs.
We got in the car and went back to Goblin Valley State Park. We had a two-day pass. We parked at the trailhead and walked to see Valleys 1 and 2. There were deep crevasses which we had to climb into and out of in order to reach the second valley. Chris got really red, so we walked back to the trail head. He chatted with a group from Sweden. We meet a lot of Europeans at the state and national parks.
When we got back, I made and ate breakfast. I called Holiday Inn again to see if they found my nightgown. But no.
We drove to the BLM office. Right behind it was the Wolverton Mill. It was build in the early 1920's and relocated to the BLM office decades later. The owner had built it to crush ore for goldmining, and to saw lumber. It was interesting to imagine the parts moving. But not all the pieces were there.
Later we went to the gas station across the street to fill up. The associated convenience store is actually inside the mountain (hill). So of course I had to go in and look. Sadly I forgot to bring my camera. Then we went back to Duke's Slickrock Grill. I ordered chili and a side of cheese curds (fried mozzarella). Chris got the fish sandwich. We brought home fries and curds. We sat on our laptops for awhile. Then I made tea and took supplements.
I wrote my blog posts for yesterday and today. When I tried to highlight yesterday for copy/paste, everything went kerflufel. I 'undid' the copy, then tried to save the file. But everything went wrong. And then it was replaced with an old copy from June. Months of data lost. To-do file gone. Data about cleaning hours – gone.
After Chris and I both failed to recover it, and trying stuff that Google suggested yielded nothing, I sat down with a heavy heart to recreate both blog posts. We watched two episodes of Silent Sea – a Korean space drama dubbed in English. Then we went to bed.
