Annual Meeting

I kept waking up in a sweat. I laid on the bed, spread-eagled, wondering if I was contributing to global warming. Finally I put on my headphones and went back to sleep. When I shut the tablet off and got up, it was 8am by my watch. I brushed my teeth and plugged in the tablet to recharge. I checked the stove clock which agreed with my watch. Then I checked the laptop. It was an hour earlier and the router wasn't up yet, so how did it know?
My seed crackers were a little soft and I needed them for lunch, so I put them in the toaster oven to crisp up. Then I drank water while checking e-mail. I watched part of an interview on vaccines with Barbara Loe Fisher.
I paused it at 9:30 to take a shower and get dressed for church. I packed my sewing gear in the back of the car for Renegades later. Then I drove to church.
When I got there, I placed a box of finger lights in the big box for Christmas shoe boxes. Then I sat in the sanctuary. Soon we were lining up for the choir warm-up. It went ok. I read my bulletin in the pew. The lady behind me talked to me until the pastor came forward to start the service.
Since it was All Saints Sunday, he spoke about remembering the past and the spirit of those who came before us. After the service, there was pizza in the kitchen for those who were staying for the congregational meeting. I stood around talking as long as I could. Dawn said she would pray to Saint Joseph for Chris to get a job. Jennifer took Dawn home. Then I went to the kitchen to see if they had the salt-free nuts that Jennifer mentioned. I had a couple of handfuls (since I forgot to bring the lunch I had crisped). Then we gathered in the sanctuary again.
We were given handouts of the slides that the president showed. We discussed ways to cut back even further than the council had already done in the proposed budget. It was still at a deficit. One man spoke harshly and it got nasty. But a vote was called for and it passed, with a resolution to revisit it in February. Then there was stage 2, not that I remember what that was.
Anyway, it was finally over. I hopped in my car and drove to the other church where Renegades were meeting. They were still sewing. I brought in my sewing gear and set up at a table. Lynette showed me the quilt design they were working on. So I got some strips and started sewing. I shared pieces with the lady at the table next to me. I got to talking and just had a great time. All too soon it was time to pack up and go home. Chris called to say he had driven Michele to the airport and he was by himself until his plane takes off tomorrow. I told him I would call when I got home.
When I got home, I called Chris and pulled the chicken out at the same time. I was so hungry that I ate and talked at the same time. He told me he has an interview on Wednesday. After the call, I finished the interview I had started before church.
I stacked and ran the dishwasher. Then I went joy-riding around the neighborhood in Chris' car, just to refresh my memory of driving stick. I watched the third episode of Betrayal, followed by episode 4 of The Sacred Plant: treating cancer with cannabis.
I made a mug of hot bone broth. I looked at some strip-pieced half square triangles that Maryanne had given me, trying to determine what I could make from them.
Then I typed up my blog and prepared for bed.

Working on guild projects

I got up around 8, after listening to some brain wave entrainment. I drank my usual water and checked e-mail. After while, I took break to make breakfast. After breakfast,
I finished the round robin block and packed up all the round robin fabrics.
I loaded it and my sewing gear into my trunk and drove to the Bailey Cove library and parked at the dollar store because the library lot looked full. I went inside to see where the Rocket City Modern Quilt Guild was having their sew day.
In a back room, about 4 people were sewing. Tables were set up and fabric was all around. I went back to get my machine. I set up on a table by the wall. Amanda gave me a quilt to sew binding on. I ironed the binding and sewed it around the top of the quilt. She wanted it stitched to the other side as well, but I did not have matching thread. So I did the same thing to another small quilt. Then she gave me packets of small flannel quilt blocks. I sewed one set together without really looking at the outcome. When I was done, one of the pairs was switched around, making the rest of the row wrong. So I had to borrow a seam ripper to take the row off and re-do it. It wasn't big enough but she said she'd rather have two sets of squares than one big set. So I took the remaining squares and sewed them into a small quilt top.
At that point, we had about half an hour left to sew. So she found some border strips and I sewed them around one of the small tops. By then most everything was packed away. So I packed up my machine and cleaned up the threads and such. The pastor called to ask if I had thought about heading the stewardship committee and I told him that Chris told me not to.
After the call, I put my sewing gear back in my trunk. I drove home using the parkway. I hadn't done it before and wanted to try it during daylight.
When I got home, I took my sewing gear inside, wondering if I should have just left it in the trunk. I was so hungry that I ate most of the rest of the chicken while checking e-mail. I also made and ate a big salad. Then I meditated with Oprah and Deepak.
While I was looking at e-mail, I was listening to a playlist on Youtube of intros for old TV shows. Some of them were unfamiliar so I tried to look them up on Youtube, and then on Netflix. I came across a movie called For The Love of Spock. I could not help watching it, even though it took the rest of the evening.
Then I posted to my blog and started episode three of The Sacred Plant. I planned to only watch half, but it was shorter than previous episodes, so I watched the whole thing before I went to bed.

The Sacred Plant

I stayed in bed, listening to brainwave entrainment, and then setting some intentions for the day.
I got up about 9. I drank water and deleted a round of e-mail. I put on the first episode of The Sacred Plant. My massage therapist called to ask if I could come at 1:30 instead of 4:30. A very good change for Friday traffic.
While I sewed borders on the red and blue project, I listened to the episode. I learned that marijuana was classified as a schedule one drug back in the 30's.. Schedule one is reserved for drugs with no medicinal use. But the federal government has a patent on the medicinal uses of marijuana. At the time, the AMA protested the criminalization of marijuana because it was their most effective treatment for so many conditions.
I finished the blue and red quilt top and spread it out to take its picture.
I washed up and went to my massage. I had no problem with traffic so I arrived early. I sat in the car and read a book for 10 minutes. When she was ready, we went into the massage room to changed the sheets. She left while I undressed and got on the table. Then she came back. She massaged from the hip flexors to my head. Then I rolled over and she did my jaws and neck.
When I was dressed again, we did some psoas stretches. Then we set up the next appointment and I paid her.
I came home by way of the post office. Envelopes but no packages. When I got home, I put away the fabric lying around from several projects. I ate some chicken and seed crackers.
I started watching the first episode of Betrayal, which addresses autoimmune conditions. I paused it to take a walk around the circle – about 20 minutes. Then I resumed the episode, but it kept stalling. I had to reboot my laptop to get it straightened out.
I worked on the Modern Quilt Guild project. It was a round robin kind of thing where you get a partially finished project and a stack of fabric and you complete more of the project in any way you choose, but do not finish it. The idea is to pass it on to the next person. I created a block of twister pieces and then put corners on it to get it up to size with the one that came in the project.
I made and ate a salad. While watching episode 2 of The Sacred Plant, I peeled and ate a pomegranate. I learned that cannabinoids are one of the most important substances in the brain. Many cells have a cannabinoid receptor, particularly in the nervous system, but other organs as well. A runner's high may well be due to an endocannabinoid: internally produced cannabis. Tylenol has an endocannabinoid-mediated mechanism.
When the episode was over, I posted to my blog, intending to watch an episode of The A-Team because it puts me to sleep.

The place to myself

I don't know when I woke up, but I laid in bed not wanting to get up. When I finally did, it was quarter of 9. I drank a quart of water and read e-mail. I made and ate breakfast, then got dressed.
I needed something to work on at Stitch-Its, so I rummaged through a few projects and decided to take the hashtag squares. I took pics of my blocks on different fabrics to audition for a sashing. I downloaded them to my laptop and filed through them. I could not choose. So I tapped about it. Then I tried a dark blue and decided that would do. So I cut strips of the dark blue and folded them in with the squares. I put the project in the box with my sewing machine and I went to Stitch-Its.
I gave Pat the book forms I had printed out. We discussed how to deal with deleted books. I talked to Leslie. I checked out some squares a lady was making from a pic o a paper quilt.
At 2 we all packed up to go home. I bought an organic rotisserie chicken on the way home. When I got to the house, I checked the price. $10 for a chicken? I figured if it lasted for more than two meals, it was cheaper than kimbap. I ate some chicken and put the rest in the fridge.
I vacuumed the bathroom floor because it was on my to0do list. It was too quiet, so I put on a CD. I ironed some curtains that had just come out of the wash.
Then I worked on the red and blue project. It took me a few minutes to figure out where I had stopped and what the next step was. Then I started sewing on strips.
I stopped at 6:30 to make and eat a salad. The kale looked wilted, so I stuck it in a glass of water. It was getting close to
7. I sat down for my skype call and Skype stopped working. I had to reboot the laptop. My tapping biddy called and it went to the desktop computer. I answered the call, but she could neither hear or see me because the microphone and camera were not attached.
When the laptop was ready, we connected. The call went very well and we had a nice chat, too.
Then I ate a banana and started watching a time travel movie on Youtube called “41”. After an hour, I kept experiencing interruptions, so I took a break to jot notes for my blog. Then I finished watching the movie, and read some of the comments. Finally, I posted to my blog and went to bed.
* This is the hashtag project, not the red and blue project. *

All Saints day

I started my detox d by drinking water and swishing. Chris packed his bags. I got dressed and drove him to the airport. Traffic was kind of heavy. But I got home ok.
I boiled water for coffee, took some niacin and did my exercises when it kicked in. I had already done drybrushing by then. Then it was time for meditation and tapping.
Afterward, I used the caffeine rush to clean the bathrooms and kitchen. When it slowed down, I took a cold detox bath and then a warm one, followed by a shower. I had hung a pair of wrinkled pants by the shower and they looked pretty good afterward.
I was pretty hungry by then, so I made and ate breakfast. I went to the post office to check the mail, but there was nothing of any value. Then I looked up how to print a CD label. I downloaded a template. I fit the song titles in the correct space. But when I printed it out, the template wasn't there. So I had to center it over another CD and trace the inner and outer circles.
I cut on the lines, then sprayed the back with glue. I also sprayed the CD, which turned out to be a mistake. I adhered the label to the CD and it was sticky in the middle where the paper did not cover the hole. I soaked a q-tip in alcohol and rubbed that part. Also, the paper hung over the edge on one side so I carefully trimmed it. Then I left it on the table to dry out.
Then I made a form for Pat to use to record new books. I printed that out and left it for tomorrow.
The next thing on my to-do list was hummus. So I got out the chickpeas and the Nutribullet. I squeezed the lemon into it instead of measuring so then I did not bother measuring the chick peas. I just used them all and added enough water for it to blend.
Then I ate some leftover veggies from the fridge. I checked e-mail briefly. Then I took my CD's and jumped in the car. I took the parkway to church. But because of traffic, it took longer. Still, I got there on time.
Bill stood up and announced that today was All Saints day and that 36 years ago today our church was started, hence the name All Saints Lutheran Church.
Then Jennifer started our practice with warm-ups. We sang through our songs in the pews and then once up front. I gave the CD's to Cecelia. She gave one to Jennifer. I spoke to both of them, and then I left.
When I got home, I killed a cockroach on the floor. It was the first one I have seen in months. I drank more water and made a mug of hot bone broth. I checked e-mail and finished a video about how to use a certain quilting ruler.
Then I cued up The Penitent Man on Youtube. It started out very slowly. It got more interesting and then I paused it to write my blog. I think I will leave the rest for tomorrow.

Halloween happenings

I checked e-mail and drank a quart of water. With a gasp, I remembered the recyclables and ran around trying to get them out as soon as possible, not knowing if the truck was coming early or late. It has done both.
I cut up the brownie into 24 pieces and wrapped eight each on three plates. I put them in a bag to take to sewing. I put on my walking shoes, and went to sewing.
When I walked in, I showed off the pumpkin wallhanging. I put the plates of brownies in the church kitchen. The table in there was covered in treats.
Then I sat with the Beverlys and cut fleece strips for crocheting. Beverly showed off her skeleton wall hanging and got lots of nice comments. She was working on the binding. We worked and talked until everyone was gone. We turned out the lights and went to the parking lot. We stowed our stuff in our cars and went for a walk around the neighborhood behind the church.
It took just over half an hour so I figure we went a mile.
When I left the church, I went to the Asian store for kimbap. I was able to buy a rewriteable CD there, which was very convenient.
When I got home, I re-hung the pumpkin on the front door.
I checked e-mail. I made up more breakfast spice mix. I tested all the finger lights again and weeded out the weaker ones in case someone asked for an extra. I made up 12 days worth of supplements.
Chris came home about 4:15. He changed his clothes and then we took a load of stuff to the thrift shop. When we got back, I turned on the porch light. I went back to trying to order a probiotic from Swansons. As kids knocked on the door or tried to ring the bell, I opened the door and presented them with a choice of finger lights as a treat.
I read e-mail, and finished choosing a probiotic and placed my order. I cracked open a black walnut that I picked up on our walk through the neighborhood this afternoon. I picked it apart with Grandma's nut picks. Then I made a salad. While I was making the salad, Chris answered the door.
After eating, I peeled a package of tumeric with a spoon. Sadly some of it was rotten and I had to throw that away. The rest I sliced thinly and put in a tea pot to steep. I washed all the dishes in the sink. I wrote a check to put in the mail tomorrow.
Then I tried to burn the songs I had downloaded to the blank CD I'd bought earlier. It seemed so simple, yet afterward the computer said my files were waiting to be burned. So Chris took a look at it and there were files on the CD. But we put it in the CD player and no sound came out. So Chris burned the files again using different software I guess. Then he put the CD in the DVD player and music came out.
I turned off the porch light since it was after 8:30. Then we sat down to watch another episode of Miss Marple. These episodes from season 2 are so well done. Quite in contrast to The A-Team, which are formulaic with simplistic dialogue. Chris looked up some of the actors online. Then he went to bed.
I stayed up to post to my blog, having written much of it during the day. I turned off the simmering turmeric And I went to bed.

Facing the pumpkin

I got up at 8. I read e-mail and drank water. I read about using lemon peels on your heels to soften them. So I got a squeezed lemon half from the fridge and put them inside my socks. When I checked my heels later, no change.
I made and ate breakfast, then got dressed. After a few last minute things, I drove to sewing group. As the ladies ate lunch, I handsewed binding on the pumpkin. I continued while they either left or did their own sewing in the afternoon. Laurie told us stories of her mother.
I finished the pumpkin and there was no point it taking out my sewing machine. When Laurie finished her last store, I decided to go home.
When I got there, I checked the house mail. I got a Halloween card from MaryAnn. I ate kimchi, a can of soup and a sweet potato for lunch. I listened to a podcast on sporebiotics. Then I did the Day 1 meditation from Oprah and Deepak. Finally, I took a walk around the circle for a little sun and exercise.
When I got back, I rolled up a piece of newspaper for a rod. I stuck it in the triangles on the back of the wallhanging. I hung it on the door. Then I cut some black shapes and sprayed them with temporary adhesive. I stuck them on the pumpkin as a face and took it's picture.
I searched high and low in boxes for blank CD's. I found the cookbook Chris wanted for making brownies. I unpacked clothing and dishware. Chris made brownies and cooked chick peas.
I ate fruit for supper: pomegranate, banana, and figs. I watched a tapping video for seasonal affective disorder.
I made a mug of hot bone broth and we watched two episodes of The A-Team, and then it was 11pm. So one of those episodes must have been extra long. I fell asleep more than once during second one. Then I posted to my blog and went to bed.
