Visiting the new temple

Friday

I got up before 8. I washed up and got dressed. I read some e-mail, then took some paper and went to Math Morning at the chapel. Saronna and her kids were right behind me. They were all bundled up because they walked. And it was cold and windy out.

I set up in the fellowship hall. I worked with Jedediah on his alphabet and numbers. Casey came, too. Sophia had flash cards. At 10 they packed up and went home.

I went home to get on my laptop and wait for Zoom. I met with the practitioner from yesterday to ask questions and pay for the program. Since my laptop doesn't have a camera, I wondered if there was a way to use the camera in my phone as a webcam.

After that call, I made more breakfast mix, then made and ate breakfast. Chris was gone, but Michelle had offered to take me to Tooele and she had to go to WalMart anyway. So she came by to pick me up.

We went straight to Melanie's. Melanie and I signed paperwork and I wrote her a check. Then I bought some prebiotics. Then she and I went to a beauty supply store, followed by WalMart. She got 20 matching boxes of tissues for the funeral tomorrow and I got pomegranates.

Talking to the store clerk, we were reminded of the temple opening. This is the last weekend it is open before the dedication. So Michelle drove us over there. It was a busy place! We were given booties to wear over our shoes. Then we went inside.

There were people stationed here and there to make sure everyone went in a pre-approved direction. But there wasn't a lot of explanation. So Michelle explained to me the baptismal font (they baptize volunteers in the stead of people who have already passed with the intention of eventually baptizing everyone who has ever lived.)

On the next floor were rooms where people gather to listen to a long recorded message and make vows to God. Then they pass through a veil room into the Celestial room which is beautifully decorated with chandeliers. (The whole place is awesomely decorated.) Then we went up a level to see the seling rooms where couples and families are sealed. We sat in there for some time, talking. A couple came by who have visited our chapel. They were very happy to see us there.

Then we made our way out. The booties were removed and tossed. We went to her car and headed back to base, talking the whole way. When we got to my house, Chris was gone. I thought he was still in Goshen, but he had come home and then gone gaming with his friends.

I made supper and checked messages. I fixed the tower garden which had gotten blown around. I worked on my blog, then got ready for game night.  I went to Michelle's house.  She was out visiting Saronna, so I chatted with Casey as I played the game.  I went through several worlds, figuring out one puzzle but getting stumped on the next.  On the last world, it took me till after 11 to set myself up to start in a better place next time.
I thanked them and went home.  Chris was still up.  So we went to bed at the same time.
