Birthday trip

Friday

I got up around 8. I brushed and swished. I read online for a bit, going through the Black Friday sales announcements I put some ice packs in the cooler. I watered some plants, noting that the Easter lily produced a tiny bloom. I trimmed dead plant stems from the tower garden.

When Michelle and Diane drove up, I took the cooler and got in her car. We chatted as Michelle drove us to Salt Lake City to the Desert Star dinner theatre. We were shown to our seats and given a menu. We all ordered hot tea. Then the piano man started playing. There were some introductory remarks, and the play began.

It was a spoof on White Christmas. It was very amusing. Very musical, with lyrics rewritten to match local and current conditions. Then they had more remarks to the audience, encouraging people to buy gift cards and season tickets. Afterward, the troupe sang Christmas songs and danced. When it was over, I remarked that the piano player would be very welcome at the chapel on Sunday mornings.

We put on our coats and went out to the car. We went looking for Trader Joe's because they sell turkey and sweet potato burritos only at Thanksgiving and John expressed a liking for them. The first Trader Joe's was closed, so we found another one. They had the burritos, and also the Japanese sweet potatoes that the CSM wanted.

Then Diane wanted to go to a sushi place, so we did. I did not order a bowl because there were too many choices to make. Kinda like going to Subway. And anyway, I bought jicama and hummus at Trader Joe's. We ate there, then went to Costco. They had freezers there, but I showed Michelle the one that Ravonna sent me, and it was cheaper from WalMart. So then we wandered around the store. Michelle picked out a bunch of stuff and Diane got one thing. I got a few things. We checked out. They would not take a credit card so I had to pay cash.

It was getting late so we drove back to the base, getting in after 6. Our number was up, and we got stopped at the guard station for a car check. That meant we had to get out of the car and wait while they checked everything for explosives or whatever. Brrr!

Then Michelle dropped me off at my house and took Diane home. I went in the house, and showed John the burritos, then put them in the fridge. I ate some nuts and cheese and seed crackers. I worked on my blog. John and Michelle went in the back and Chris and I watched two episodes of The Librarians.

I fell asleep during the second one. Chris covered me with a blanket. But I could not stay asleep. I got up to do my nightly ritual and went to bed. But I still couldn't sleep and Chris was up doing something. I took a supplement and went back to bed. Chris came to bed, and I tossed and turned for some time, fighting off hot flashes.
